NEW ENGLAND STATES - Maine/Massachusetts

Salisbury Beach State Reservation in Salisbury MA, one of the few campgrounds in NE that's actually on the beach. W/E sites. Campground is on the MA NH boarder and about 45 minutes to southern ME attractions. Campground offers camp store, fishing, kayaking, 2 beaches(one with pets allowed). Sites are somewhat small but that's typical for beach area camping.

Best part is the $27 per night fee, you will not it that cheap on any beach area camping in NE. Book now if you planning for summer months, place books up fast.

We really like Old Orchard Beach, Maine and we stay at Ne're Beach Campground which is overlooking downtown and 3 blocks from the beach and the small amusement park, if that is your thing. It is also across the street from the local lobster pound pick out your lobster and they will steam them for you and you can walk back to your RV and dinner is served.

Spring rates are $40/night for a FHU site.

There is so much to see in that area, but if you just google OOB, it will come up with all sorts of sites, activities, etc.

If it weren't such a long drive, we would go every few months.

York's Wild Kingdom in York, ME, would probably be a big hit with your 2 year old. What part of MA are you looking at? There are a lot of small museums and such that are quite suitable for a child that age. There are things in Boston as well, such as the Children's Science Museum.

Fort Foster, in Kittery, ME, is a fun area to explore. Do keep an eye out for poison ivy if you visit, as there is quite a bit around the area. Beaches, rocks, a pier, etc.

Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH is a very nice traditional amusement park, one of a dwindling number not owned by a large corporation.

I think you probably mean the Children's Museum and the Science Museum—two separate institutions. The science museum might be a bit advanced for a two year old, though the lightning shows are impressive. Both are good museums.

Our go-to RV park in SE Mass is Normandy Farms in Foxboro. Lots to do, nice sites. Not real convenient to Boston unless you have a toad and maybe a little pricey.

Also (I haven't been there for years but) Wompatuck SP in Hignham.

Southern Maine we stayed at Sebago Lake this summer. A couple of nice campgrounds on the lake.

Our go-to in Mass is Pine Acres.... LOVE IT!!

Yup. I meant to put an "and" somewhere in there and missed it!

We plan on visiting the Boston area in MA
. We are huge fans of the NE Patriots, so we will plan our 3rd visit to Gillette too. :) Any cool places to visit that are hidden gems of the Boston area or in the Southern Maine area? We are starting our camping vacation around the Kittery/Portland, ME area, then moving toward the Boston area.

If your visiting Foxboro then Nomandy Farms is a good stop for you. It's a couple miles down rt 1.
