New England trip in July

DW and I will be traveling to New England states this summer. Planning on taking I-84 from Pa over to Conn, stopping in Mystic for 2-3 days. Then, traveling thru Rhode Island, bypassing Boston and on up to Maine. Planning on 4 days near Acadia N.P., then over to Vermont for a few days. Would appreciate suggestions on campgrounds and other places to extend this trip. I thought I could visit Newport & other local spots while staying in Mystic,Conn. Also thought I could drive along Maine's coastal hwy while staying near Bar Harbor area. Camping near Montpelier or Burlington,Vt for several days should allow us to enjoy a taste of Vermont. I know we COULD spend all summer in New England; but our journey takes us westward to the Michigan/Great Lakes area for the remainder of our trip. Again, thanks for any suggestions on locations we should consider adding to our itinerary.

  • Make reservations quickly, especially if you need specific amenities. Enjoy your trip.
  • We have stayed at Hadley's Point in Bar Harbor for a number of years now. Not on the water but cheaper than those that are. Can accommodate any size rv, has full hookup sites, as well as back-in and pull through. Depends on what you are looking for and want to spend.
