Hi from AZ. . . Snow anywhere in New Mexico after the 1st week in March is rare. It can happen, but an overnight dusting, maybe delaying you one day, is about all I've seen I think March & early April are pretty days in NM. Regards, Craig

The last time we were there the access road to Chaco Canyon NHS would beat an RV to death. They try to grade it, but after the slightest rain it goes bad bad bad in a hurry. We took just the truck.

In the NW corner, the various Indian ruins near Bloomfield are all neat.

Thanks for this post. We have our bucket list trip coming up and NM features prominently, but I want to do the whole thing and thankfully will have the time. This post has just added places to our list.

Chaco Culture NHS: a World Heritage Site, has dry camping that now can be reserved online.

During your time frame, I would stay in the southern part of the state. It is not unusual to get snow in the northern part of the state into May. We camped in the Jemez mountains (about 7000 ft. elevation) last May and got caught in snow. Many nice places in the south where it should be nicer weather. It can also get windy that time of year however so watch the weather when you plan to travel since visibility can get bad during a sand storm. Enjoy the Land of Enchantment.
