New Summer Ideas - Hilton Head SC?

We usually visit Myrtle Beach (Ocean Lakes) and Charleston (James Island & KOA), Outer Banks and Virginia Beach but we are looking a new place. Question is where to stay in Hilton Head and what is there to do? Any and info will be appreciated. Thanks

Oh, any other suggestions? Kids are 13 & 16.
  • Not too far away, as the crow flies, is Hunting Island State Park, kind of hard to get reservations though.
  • I don't think it's really all hat expensive. I guess if you are used to the state parks and mcdonalds for dining, then maybe yes. But it is a very nice kept up place.

I do think your kids will probably get bored. It will be a big let down for them compared to Ocean Lakes. Besides the beach and riding a bike, I think there is a water slide park. Or at least there used to be. That's about it for them there. Will probably be more of a place to your liking once the kids are grown.

Hilton Head doesn't have campgrounds or RV parks. They do have two Motorcoach Resorts. And the McDonald's has a sign about 4 feet high. Restrictions, you know. I was there once with a group on a golf outing. We stayed in a very expensive hotel overlooking the beach and paid through the nose to play golf.
    My first and last visit.

Not true. The HHI Harbor RV Resort allows travel trailers and fifth wheels.
  • Not our favorite beach. There is very little beach access in fact there are very few places that you can see the ocean as everything is private and gated. It is pretty expensive. The Motor coach resort down close to town is a really nicer place but not close to the beach. Were were there in October of 2012
