How right you are about judging a whole state by a few bad experiences, check what you wrote above :)
We'll try the Tampa and Orlando area sometime in the distant future. Maybe in about 4 years. Need a break for awhile.
Understood. Please visit some Florida State parks also. As a life long resident of Florida, I have to tell you , I not crazy about Tampa or Orlando either, when it comes to experiencing what the state has to offer. Way too urban. You can get that experience in any large city in the country. Orlando if you must, to visit the mouse.
P.S. I wrote those comments before you revealed the limited extent of your visit. IMHO not the best parts of Florida either!.
