The guy asked a simple question, "can a good RV/Resort park in Florida beat $1,950 (minus electric??" and it turns into a Texas bashing session. I hope he gets an answer to his question instead of all the "Mine is better than yours" comments.
If money is the ONLY criteria for picking a winter park, Texas would win as there are more parks in Texas that is in the price range. There are some in Florida, just not as many. They are harder to find.
We choose a winter spot based upon overall value, not price.
The OP sounds very happy with Texas, and that is good.
We are very happy with Florida.
To each his own. - Sooner_SchoonerExplorerAll you can do is research resorts and prices to see which is the better deal. We love the state of Texas, but there is so much more to do in Florida. We were not happy in the RGV.
- boston_blackyExplorerThank you TomG. Pls. oh please save your issues (stuff) - I only wish to zero in on options; is or is there not somewhere - in Fl. or even Az where one can spend winter; i.e. in a safe, clean, interesting Resort with 3 services and under 2k $? bb:@

- Dog_FolksExplorerTo each his own.
Enjoy Texas.
We choose to overwinter in Florida, with all it's flaws. - TomG2Explorer

Just got note stating the costs to park here in RGV, Tx. for winter of 2014/15. Site reserved for 5 1/2 months, minus electric. Question is can a good RV/Resort park in Florida beat $1,950 (minus electric??
This is for a booking from Nov 01. to April 15, 2014. Don't think so!
I am sure there are a lot of us that would look twice at a good South Florida RV park at under $400/month. I could not find one in three winters trying. South Texas has many that meet the criteria. - LynnandCarolExplorerFor every dollar winter texans spend in south tx, the FL snowbirds are spending $5! We always love spending more for the same products...Not. Wintered in FL for 10 years and had enough of the high sales taxes, high RV site prices, high seafood prices and the crowds! This is for south FL. Northwest FL is still somewhat in line with south TX and less crowded. Rockport, TX RV parks are in much more demand this year and winter spots will be much harder to find next year. And no, we have no oil workers here. Most of our winter texans are ex-FL-Snowbirds!
- JW_of_Opechee_SExplorerYou get what you pay for and for my money I'll stay in Florida and sit out in the sunshine without swallowing dust:)
- CamrealExplorerCheck around , you can beat that as there are many parks there competing for business.
- John_JoeyExplorerYou get what you pay for that's how supply and demand works.
On Edit:
This is why you pay more in Florida (especially the southern part):
You can spin Texas as much as you want, but the weather will never equal Florida's (even if they are at the same latitude) because there is no warm Caribbean Gulf water coming into the Gulf of Mexico.
