I've done a RV.net Search for North Carolina Beach Campgrounds, Ocean Campgrounds, and just plain North Carolina Campgrounds and have gotten zero results. I'm not sure what the problem is.Anyway we are planning a trip to North Carolina and the Outer Banks area: Hatteras, Nags Head, etc. We are planning on being there around September 19th with our 40' toyhauler. My question:Would you who have camped there and enjoyed it recommend someplace to stay for a week or so. I've been to RVParkReviews and found some places that look good, but some actual experiences would be greatly appreciated. Any and all responses will be received with gratitude. TIA.

Carolina Beach State Park isn't on the beach, or at least not on the ocean.If you want to lay on the beach you better pick a different state.

we go to Camp Hatteras you have the choice of camping on the beach or the sound side.We prefer the sound side it is a short walk to the beach.

We use GOOGLE MAPS to find these kinds of places as we travel. Just type in the SEARCH FORM "RV CAMPING"... Then mouse click on the one you want to get more info about...The NICE SANDY BEACHES really starts down in South Carolina. MYRTLE BEACH has a bunch of Ocean Side camp grounds...Roy Ken

Here is a picture of two campgrounds (actually there is a third, but it is entirely on the sound) in Rodanthe, NC. That's the Atlantic Ocean on the right side of the picture. A mile or two south of Camp Hatteras and the KOA shown in the picture above is Ocean Waves Campground.

I guess you/ve never been to the Outer Banks of NC, which seems to be what the OP is asking about. Here is a picture of two campgrounds (actually there is a third, but it is entirely on the sound) in Rodanthe, NC. That's the Atlantic Ocean on the right side of the picture. Pamlico Sound is on the left side.

Okay, you got me curious. Why can't you lie on the beach in North Carolina? I don't particularly want to do that, but the wife wants to be near the ocean. I like the ocean, but don't really want to swim in it.
