If you do stay at the NPS campground, there's a nice camp store with little sitting areas both inside and outside for free wifi. Also a laundry setup nearby.
Wherever you stay, be sure to go into the lodge. We had dinner there at a reasonable cost, and the whole place sits at the edge of the canyon with excellent views. You can sit facing the canyon on the sun terrace, where there are also some ranger talks held.
Maybe because it's off the beaten path a bit, that part of the park felt less commercial to me, more the way NPs were when I was a kid. (A long time ago.)
