As Scott mentioned, these parks are booked up well in advance. We live a few miles from Birch Bay and although not particularly big rig friendly we have never been able to stay there. Same with Bay View...we were able to get a site at Bay View three or four years ago but never again. Our lifestyle does not allow us to reserve 12 months in advance which it seems you must do with these parks. We will often stay at private parks like Pioneer Trails or Fidalgo Bay in Anacortes. Both are just a few minutes from Deception Pass, San Juan Ferries, LaConner and other sites.
