North Washington State Coast

Planning on spending a few weeks in July. Looking at Birch Bay SP, Bay View SP, and Deception Pass SP. Also Fort Ebey SP or South Whidbey SP on Whidbey Island.

I'm assuming these parks are very busy in July and I will need reservations? Are any less crowded than others? Anyone have a favorite campsite at any of these parks? We prefer privacy over view. Power and water nice but not a must. Any other camping spots in the area we should consider?

Traveling in a 25' TT. Thanks in advance for any info.
  • We have stayed at and enjoyed Pioneer Trails, minutes from Anacortes and Deception Pass. Mind you, we weren't there in high season so don't know what vacancies exist if any but it's worth a look.
  • Don't forget Fort Casey. they have a great camp ground on the beach near the ferry dock.

but book early, and don't be late

If we can help, we live in Oak Harbor.
  • Yes, some of those are booked solid 9 months in advance or at least all the best site are. Our entire season is booked that much in advance.
But they are fantastic! So I urge you to go on line and book all the sites you need for you trip.

One thing to keep in mind though, many of those parks are all about the view and because that kind of property is at a premium, they are not very secluded or private.
