Nuevo Progreso 2016

About twenty of my single friends and I visited Nuevo Progreso yesterday. While it will never be as busy as it was ten years ago, it was the busiest that I have seen it in a long time. We usually visit once a week. East and West parking lots were almost full, as were the sidewalks in town. It may have had something to do with the beginning of Lent, but it was good to see so many people enjoying themselves. Still the best place to cross over into Mexico in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
  • Some have said that a picture ID will work at Progresso, or does one need their passport?
  • Passport works for me. Some use a combination of Birth Certificate, Driver's license, photo ID, etc. Some states issue a driver's license that works.
  • With all this nice weather we've been getting it seems like the valley is starting to swell with new Winter Texan arrivals. I know our park is almost full, and that just happened within the last 1-2 weeks. Prior to that it was looking a little bleak around here.
  • The peak Winter Texan season coincides with the lowest temperatures of the winter up north. Jan 15-Feb 15. A month from now we will be asking, "Where did everybody go?"
  • You just might be right, a month from now we'll hitch up and go. With fuel being so affordable we're thinking about seeing the Pacific coast next. If we do, then that will mean we went from border to border, and coast to coast this snowbird season. Gotta love affordable fuel, and the freedom it allows you.
  • Been to South Florida and back this winter. $600 instead of over $1,000 a couple of years ago. Looking at Phoenix next.
  • Glad to hear the numbers are up again. I think a lot of people there depend on us for their next meal. We are always treated so well there. Heading over again next week.
