Thankfully I don't need a nursing home myself but my 85 year old neighbor recently suffered a stroke and needs assisted living care. Like most retirees, he has limited financial resources...and those resources will be drained before he qualifies for welfare assistance.
So my question revolves around the issue of assisted living facilities or nursing homes in Mexico near the Arizona border. I am aware of American style facilities in Baja, Lake Chapala, San Miguel Allende, etc but am at a loss when it comes to Algadones, Nogales, etc. As I understand it, American style nursing home costs in Mexico are 60-75% less than in the U.S. I searched Google but could not come up with such homes on the AZ/MX border. Are there any snowbirds that are familiar with such facilities? I see questions about Dentists in MX so hopefully someone will have an answer regarding nursing homes. Thanks for any information.
Look at the internet or local phone book for the phone number/address of the local "Ombudsman". They will be able to direct you to a skilled nursing or assisted living facility in your area. You could also call the local hospital for the information. Yuma would have these type of facilities. .
