We go to Myrtle Beach several times in the summer but don't camp because we have a house there. I did drive thru Ocean Lakes last year just to check it out. It was middle of summer and it did look over-crowded..... I don't mind a busy, full cg but OL looked like a cluster to me.
In North Myrtle beach they have gotten very strict on the golf carts but some cg's don't monitor the golf cart rules very well at all. Word got out that the cart would be taken immediately if the age and speed rules were broken it would spread fast, and no refund if your under age kid gets caught. I saw this a lot at Beth Page, young kids flying around but they don't play now, they'll get ya.
I leave for Myrtle Beach tomorrow morning!
That's why we go to PirateLand. They are VERY strict on golf carts. Kids driving them will get them taken with no refund, and a fine. Out after 11;00 PM will get them taken, no refund, and a 75 dollar fine. At PirateLand. 2 minutes after 11 pm. Not a cart in sight, and it is quite. So quite, you can hear the waves breaking on the beach like you are supposed to.
And security is ever present. They sit at both intersections of the roads that go to the exit, all during the nightly golf cart parade. Stop traffic to let RVs in. The others, drive by every 15 miniutes, and to stop a party after 11. Just tell them about it. But usually they take care of it before you have a chance.
