Ohio Amish Area Campground Suggestions

My son and wife and us want to go to the Ohio Amish area for the week of August 16th through 23rd. We both have 36' motor homes. Any recommendations for a campground with full hookups?

  • Salt Fork has "some" full hook-ups, but they fill up fast on weekends in the summer. It is about 30-40 miles from Amish Country but if you want a wonderful State Park, Salt Fork is all that.

If you don't find anywhere you could always come to Ontario..Waterloo County. We have a very large Mennonite and Amish community as well as good camping places.
  • Salt Fork State Park is really nice and has full hook ups. Big park with lodge, golf course, marina, swimming and some other attractions. Many sites for bigger rigs. It's a litlle south of some of the Amish places but also fairly close to Zanesville. Everything within an hour drive or so.
  • Assuming the Amish area you are considering is Holmes County, we have stayed a couple of times at Whispering Hills RV Park just south of Shreve. While there are other places that are closer to the center of the county, Whispering Hills is a much nicer setting than the open parking lots we've seen elsewhere. IMHO
