We have stayed there several times over the years. It is quiet and certainly not a lot of traffic noise. Fishing in the boat basin believe it or not produces some nice panfish. Also produced a good sized alligator one trip. You can rent johnboats with motors and canoes as well. In early March many years ago we put three canoes in at Kingfisher Landing just off US 1 and paddled 36 miles across the swamp and took out at Stephen Foster SP. Great trip. No mosquitos in early March and the water was up enough for a current to where the water exited at the sill. That said, you can canoe or boat up to Billy's Island to see some of the early swamp habitation evidence - cemetery and partial foundations of a few houses. Use caution if you go there. BIG snakes of several species inhabit the swamp.
