Bears Den....When do you plan on coming ? Old Federal is very popular and fills up quickly. I make our reservations pretty well in advance. We camp at Old Federal a lot so I am familiar with the sites. Most will accomodate a 30 ft. TT, some sites have shade others do not. If having shade is important to you, I recommend sites #64, #65, #66 or #67 (#68 is a little short)...or as mentioned, the sites behind those also have nice water views and are shaded, #71 thru #75..these are all nice sites. We have camped at #65 many times...We also love #69 and #70 on same loop, excellent views but no shade and can get very windy out on the point.
If shade is not important to you, the sites we have camped at numerous times are #44, #45, #60 and #61.....#61 does have a nice beach area, but keep in mind the beach isn't only for that site, people come to that beach to swim and park their boats, so it's not like you have it to yourself....the camp pad is a good ways from the beach so we've never been bothered by people down there having fun.
#41, #42, and #43 are also nice sites.....We mostly stay at #44 or #45.
If you look at the pictures on recreation.gov, some of these pictures are not current. For example, pictures of #44 or #45 show steps going down to the camp pad. They have raised the camp pads to be level with the driveway..nice improvement for having room for chairs under your awning, and not having to go down stairs for table, fire ring, etc. Hope this helps you narrow it down a bit....Jennifer
