Opinion on Resort fees

The DW has her price point set at about $35. Anything above the grumbling starts. Anything above $45 produces screaming.

Pools don't tempt us at all. This is our idea of somewhere to swim.

Bar Harbor KOA-over $100/night. Sites are cramped in most areas. BUT they can get it due to its proximity to Bar Harbor, awesome sunsets, activities, etc. We used to go there regularly. Expense is in the eye of the beholder.

"Key Largo Kampground and Marina" -We have been all over the Keys and like this one the best. Check us out on line.
If you are a kayaker, canoer or paddleboard paddler there are fifty miles of protected water ways in the mangrove gardens including the John Pennekamp state park canoe trails or you can paddle out to one of the reefs, (like "Mosquitoe Banks) for superb under sea viewing.
If you are a power boater, the canal leads you right into the Atlantic or Largo sound

Not only that, but we are only 40 minutes from The Everglades National Park.

We used to do the state parks; jumping from one to the other every two weeks, but now it is here in for the winter months

So it all depends,

If it's the only place available in that area, and you NEED to stay there... then you pay it. Who cares what they call the fees, in the end, the total is the total.

We pay, what I consider to be, a really high amount to stay at the KOA in Laramie, WY sometimes when UW has home football games. We're basically only there to sleep and then head home the next day. We are of the "bottom line' folks. Don't care how a CG breaks it down, what do we put on the pay line on our check or credit card? Otherwise, we don't care much what the campground charges or does with the money after we pay it.

It's kinda like buying a truck. What do we write the check for, not 'Here's the price' but we charge tax, dealer fees, etc., on top. Nope that's NOT the number we care about or want to hear.

As you can see, what some are happy to pay $100 a night for, Location, beach, pool, entertainment, tiki huts, or what ever, the rest of us have no need or use for and wouldn't pay $50 for, as a "Resort", doesn't sound like that place is hitting on much, no matter where it is.
So, it's back to the old term "To each their own".
