We will stay in Crescent City till labor day then we will head north along the coast from Sept 2nd - 7th. So maybe most of the weekend campers will have cleared out by then.
Looks like there is availability at a few of the state parks I have checked so far. I just hate to make reservations because we don't want to be committed to a schedule, but then again we want to be sure we can find a place to park along the way.
Thanks for the replies so far, we are looking forward to this trip.
Trying to have it both ways makes the reservation task difficult at best. i.e. not committing to reservation in advance and hoping you will still be able to be able to find a park to stay in. I look at reservations a little different, making reservations does not committ me to a locked in schedule, but rather it is just a plan to deviate from should my plans change. You can always cancel a reservation and you loose a nights fee. Consider it the price for not being committed to a schedule. Best to check the cancellation policy of any park.
