d-mac1...in addition to Beverly Beach just north of Newport, there is also South Beach just south of Newport. Also, there are many, many private rv parks all along the coast. In our first trip down the coast we stayed at Premier RV Park in Lincoln City....high on a bluff with a pretty good view. We have also stayed at the Newport Bay rv park that is just over the bridge and right next door to the NOAA installation with direct access to the Yaquina Bay. Crab, Salmon, Halibut fishing is plentiful. Winchester Bay is another very good private rv park worth staying at.
As for boondocking.... most (if not all) of the casinos offer free parking. I know both the Chinook Winds (Lincoln City) casino and Three Rivers in Florence offer this. I'm sure others do too.
I second the motion to do your best to travel the coast from North to South for the reason given previously.
