Oregon Coast Trip

Hi

My wife and I are hoping to go to Oregon and I'm looking for some suggestions on where to camp. Our rig is 36' long, so need a place with some good sized sites. We've heard nothing but great stuff about the Oregon coast and want to come see for ourselves.

Awesome views along the coast are desired, but if there are some inland spots with cool stuff to see, please let me know. Just beginning the planning, so ground zero right now.

Campgrounds are fine if they are gorgeous, boondocking too is cool.

Trip date is around mid-August, driving from Denver area.

Thanks.
  • All serious RV'ers must do an Oregon Coast trip. It's an awesome RV destination.

But, mid August....Coat and tie are not required, RESERVATIONS are.
Any and all of the Oregon State Parks are where you should start.

  • I would start browsing reserve America and see what parks are beginning to fill up. Always gives me a good idea of how popular an area is - and at what time of year.

Haven't seen any boondocking areas along the coast. Great State Parks and plenty of RV parks along the way.
  • Any of the Otegon State parks will accomodate you. In addition there are some nice private parks worth visiting. Netarts Bay RV west of Tillamook, and Salmon Harbor at Winchester bay are two that come to mind. Be sure to start your trip with Ft Stevens for the history. Ft Clatsop is close by besides the nive museum at Ft Stevens.
Guaranteed you will need reservations if your visiting during the peak summer season.
