To the northeast of Orlando is Blue Springs State Park where you can see the manatees.

To the east: Cocoa Beach is an interesting spot for beach experience. Kennedy Space Center has rockets and space vehicles on display and a tour of the Vertical Assembly Building.
To the west: Bok Tower Gardens with its singing carillon tower is relaxing.
One of our favorite stops is Tarpon Springs on the Gulf Coast with its fleet of sponge divers and ships. Beautiful Greek Orthodox churches too. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g34680-Tarpon_Springs_Florida-Vacations.html
In Tarpon Springs St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral is stunning.
