Overnight CampingWorld Birmingham

My husband is driving our truck camper back to Florida and i am looking for an overnight place near I-65 in Birmingham. I see that the Camping World there has overnight sites. I called and was told there are hookups. Has anyone stayed there and can tell me if there are? He must have power because of his CPAP, so we haven't tried to stay anywhere but a regular RV park, but I cannot find an RV park ( with decent reviews) in the area.
  • No ideal about the hook ups, but Camping world is about an hour from I65.
I guess if you are coming from ATL it doesn't matter.
  • The Web site says it is in Calera right off I-65 - and he's coming from the north - is it really that far?

did not realize there was one in Calera. According to google maps, you are right. I was only aware of the Anniston location. Should be fine.
  • Thanks - i hope someone knows if there is power. I called the store and was assured there were "full hook ups" but I've been mislead before.:S

This is not true CW is less than 1/2 mile from the exit and the cg is in sight of I-65. You take the Shelby County Airport exit. I believe it is exit 234. You'll be there in two minutes. They have full hook ups. Not sure how Atlanta got into the conversation.

Surely not by Camping World. Say it isn't so!
  • Rickwood Caverns State Park just North of Birmingham. Just off the interstate at exit 284 or exit 289. Easy off/on.
  • Former Dandy RV off I-65 exit 208 just 50 miles south of Birmingham if you want to drive that far. has recently reopened under new management as Yellowhammer RV Park. Spacious sites are full hookups. Easy on/easy off right next to the interstate with Loves' travel stop and a Shoneys restaurant nearby (awesome breakfast buffet).. I'm not affiliated with this campground but I live in the area and can assure that its a safe overnight stop if you're not bothered by overnight interstate noise.
  • Just for a heads up to all clap users, buy a portable charger. We keep it with us so if we have to spend a night or two with out hookups he just plugs into the charger and is good to go. Then we just recharge when we can, so its ready for next time.
