Overnight in Alabama

I am looking for a place to stay overnight anywhere from Cullman to Birmingham in Alabama. We will be heading south from Indianapolis to Florida so a location close to I-65 would be most beneficial. Thanks!!
  • Check out Cullman Campground which is about two miles off I-65 on Hwy 157. it is a good clean, quiet, safe overnight stop. The owners are very friendly and helpful. If you need to stock up there is a Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Denny's, Ruby Tuesday, BuenaVista Mexican (great place},McDonalds, Arby's, Burger King, Logan's Roadhouse, Zaxby's Plus many a fuel stations. Definitely one to consider. Enjoy your trip

Oak Mountain State Park, is a couple of miles off of I-65 just south of Bham in Pelham Al.

Also the Hoover Met Stadium has also has campsites, and is a couple of miles off I-65. It's basically hookups in the stadium parking lot, but there is lots of dining and shopping in the area if you don't want to cook.

Both are good places. Just be aware it will take at least 20 minutes (probably more dependent on traffic) off your intended route.

  • RV park or Walmart? That area is pretty limited on RV parks. I was trying to find somewhere 1/2 way between Mobile and Huntsville and came up fairly empty handed.

We ended up staying at a Walmart in Millbrook, AL that gave us permission to overnight in the parking lot.
