Overnight in Fort Myers Beach, FL: mid-April 2016

If you are only staying a night and you want to experience what Ft.Myers Beach has to offer, including Estero and Times Square then I would stay at the Red Coconut right on the island.

Collier Seminole sp on 41 not far from town, it's actually the Naples area.

We stay at San Carlos RV when visiting Ft Myers Beach. Just and easy walk across the bridge from the beach and the activity.

Collier Seminole SP cg is closed for updating. Last reported reopening date I've seen was 3/15/16. Course the start of construction was supposed to be 2 yrs ago and the cg stopped taking reservations then only accepting drive ins. Construction actual start was this summer so reported schedules don't appear to mean much. Park attendants don't know much/won't say much so calling is not much help. If you seriously consider Collier Seminole SP, PM me and I'll drive over, take a look and talk to the job foreman.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since we are pulling a Jeep, we are looking for a drive through spot so that we can leave at first light the next day. That probably eliminates the state park, but I appreciate the heads-up on Red Coconut and San Carlos.

Personally, I would avoid the island for just a simple overnight. The traffic is just awful with construction these days and Red Coconut is awfully crowded for just a quick in and out.

I live in the area and avoid Ft Myers Bch all together during the winter months due to traffic and the crowds. As far as Red Coconut goes, it reminds me of an RV parking lot especially on the beach side. If you belch your neighbor will hear you that's is how close the sites are. If you have slide outs and an awning good luck using them both. I have never stayed there and never will. There is a new cg in Bonita Springs on Bonita Beach rd just east of I75 the name slips my mind right now but a Google search of cgs in Bonita Springs will list it. Good luck.

Always to to have a "local" opinion ... thanks. Based on our looking for a park too stay at for a short term (1 week), I believe you are referring to the Sanctuary RV Resort. The reviewers mention it is "brand new".
