Overnight near Scranton, PA Labor Day weekend

We have to travel over Labor Day Weekend and all the campgrounds require a three night stay. Is there an nice place to stop for an overnight near Scranton?

Check the Mohegan Sun Casino, just off I-81 at Wilkes-Barre PA.
It's a few miles south of Scranton.
I stayed there overnight several years ago, it was okay. I would do it again.
As far as I know they still allow overnighting. Check on Casinocamper.com, they will have more info.
    Enjoy your trip.

This is great, relevant advice. However, instead of checking a website, I suggest you call the casino. You will get the most accurate, up to date information that way.

Mohegan Sun is the place....no problem,at all

Drive in Main road ,continue around to the back and park in Lot C....along the edge of the curb closest to the road...C
  • I agree with staying at the Mohegan Sun Casino. We went to a concert there last year and stayed overnight; the shuttle took us right to our door.
  • You should be able to find a spot. I am not sure about NE PA, maybe its different by being so close to NY/NJ, but in western PA Labor day weekend does not see anywhere near the occupancy that Memorial day sees. The kids are all usually back in school prior and the parents have gotten the camping bug out of their systems. Try the state parks around that area, Promised Land and Locust Lake come to mind.
  • We ran into the same thing a couple years ago except it wasn't Scranton, we had to use a Walmart for a night, which for me is a last resort. Hopefully you are looking early enough to find a campground.

If you are traveling, you might specify what route and direction you are headed.
