overnight on the go Southern Ga, Northern Florida

Planning a trip to Tampa, Fl the week of Thanksgiving. Plan on leaving Friday afternoon before Thanksgiving from Myrtle Beach, SC. Figure to drive no more than about 6 hours. Anyone know of locations in southern Ga, northern Florida along I 95 we could stop for the night. Read there is no overnighting at Ga or Fl. rest stops. Not ruling out Walmart, etc. but would like to stay as close to the highway that night as possible. Thanks for the info.

Nice state park 8 miles from 95. Only downside is the cable tv is inoperative right now.

    Crooked river state park

Right outside Kings BAy submarine base

Link does not work. Would like to look at it.

    oopsy sorry
  • X2 on Crooked River SP - very nice, right off I-95 in Georgia at the border.
  • Not 6 hours (maybe 5) from myrtle beach down, but in Brunswick Georgia there is a flying j. There's also a nice park there if you want hook ups. They offer the good Sam discount.

  • About 40-45 miles south of the Fla./Ga. border, in White Springs Florida is Lee's Country campground. They seem to "specialize" in overnights, and driving by , it looks O.K.

It is only .8 mile off the interstate. There is gas and a McDonald's at the exit also. (We spend our winters at another campground in the same town.)

Here is a link: Lee's Country Campground
