Passport America and Weekends

When traveling, I prefer to stay in public campgrounds on weekdays and private RV parks only on Friday and Saturday. While considering whether or not a PA membership would be worthwhile for me, I have come across some indication that PA is not honored on weekends. Is this your experience?
  • Best membership money spent. Sure you have to jump through some hoops. What else is new. Anyone been flying lately? Try getting the best fare there. Makes PA look dirt simple.

We stayed there 2 years ago for almost a month at PA rates. It is the nicest PA park we've stayed in and we've been PA members for more than 10 years.

  • I see that the campground notes on the website give that information. Most, it seems, do not have that restriction--mostly those that are coastal or otherwise might be popular destination resorts. Since I'm only interested in a couple of nights of hookups, laundry, WiFi and water, PA would probably serve me very well! Thank you all for your responses.
  • You have to check the published rules and requlations for each individual PA campround. I have been to some that honored only the first two days and another that honored it for a weeks stay. Get on their site and check the area you want to go to.
  • Yes - for some parks, the discount isn't offered on weekends - but no, you can't generalize and say they all restrict weekend use. They all set their own parameters.

Sometimes there are limits on the number of days you can use the discount. For some parks, there are months of the year when you can use it.

There are some excellent parks that we enjoyed even without getting a discount ...and some suitable only for a short overnight at best. So you can't generalize on the quality you'll find - it's all over the map.

We paid for our membership with one use, so we will definitely renew.
  • Passport America lets individual member parks decide how they handle their 50% discounts, so there's lots of variation.
