Pigeon Forge TN

Hello, I'm heading there next week. Will not have RV. Never been in this area. Only there from late Thurs. til Sunday. Recommendations on what to see & do. Thanks in advance
  • Search for Pigeon Forge in this Forum and/or do a Google search for the same with the word `tourism' after it.

The park can be beautiful in the winter and you won't have the crowds. Sometimes the roads (or some of them) are closed but if they are open take a drive around.
  • It depends on what you like to do. In town (Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg) there are a lot of shows and shops, and around the area are a lot of places to go hiking, fishing, birdwatching, etc. We only go to town occasionally (usually in Gatlinburg), spending most of our time hiking when we are there so I can't speak much to that aspect of the area.

I would definitely suggest going around the Cades Cove driving loop (the earlier the better, it gets crowded in the afternoon and won't be worth it.) The Roaring Fork driving loop is also worth doing - both have many historic houses and buildings to see and neither require any hiking unless you want to but you can see quite a lot and get a feel for the natural aspects of the park without much effort. Clingmans Dome and Newfound Gap overlook are also good for that, just be ready for some uphill walking to get to the observation tower at the Dome (it's all paved.)

  • Check out Gatlinburg down the road, especially if you enjoy small shops, etc. Also a little forested area called Great Smoky Mountain Natl. Park that's worth some of your time.
  • Check out the Island, Also they have lots of shows.
  • It depends on what you like. DW and I are not amusement park people so we did not go to Dollywood but that is an option. There is a old car museum, a lot of shows like The Bear Jamboree, and shows like you have in MB. Gatlinburg is nice and once you find a parking spot you can walk the town. Both areas have a lot of unique shopping and that is relaxing.
  • I stay at twin mountain outdoor resort. Nice owners decent prices. Check rv park reviews
