- ksbowmanExplorer IIThat sounds like a post I'll be watching. We went to Gettysburg and Vicksburg and they were great. Gettysburg was especially moving. Felt like I had been there. I'd love to do the trip to Shilo. I did the search and didn't find anything.
- navybankerExplorerDon't know the size of your rig and needs, but there is a COE campground at Pickwick Dam and a CG at Pickwick State Park. These are very close to Shiloh. I don't think they have FHUs. Also, a commercial CG at Parkers Crossroads (site of battle between General Forrest and Union forces). Not much there but worth a brief stop) on I 40 not too far from Shiloh. Catfish Hotel on the Tennessee river near Savannah and Shiloh has very good food. Corinth, Mississippi is close to Shiloh and was the objective of Grant's army. Corinth has a civil war exhibit. If you go to Shiloh first you can ask the National Park for info on Corinth since they operate both.
- DannyAExplorerI also would recommend the TVA campgrounds at Pickwick, much better than the state park there. Water and electric only with a dump station.
There is a wonderful view of the TVA dam.
Corinth MS has lots of Civil War stuff to do close by.
There is a campground between Pickwick and Savannah with full hook ups but can't think of the name, let me know and I will try and find out if you are interested.
Go by the Old County in Jackson TN, just off interstate 40 if your that way. Doesn't sound like much but one of the most visited places in TN. While your here you might want to go by Graceland.
We live about 35 miles from Shiloh so let me know if I can help.
Have a great trip. - navybankerExplorerI think "Old Country Store" in Jackson is what prior post meant. This is a restaurant with a 'country store' atmosphere and the Casey Jones museum is next door. On most weekends there are blue grass bands playing in the complex. Gaining entry into the complex could be difficult with a larger RV. I have never attempted this since Jackson is only 50 miles from us. I suggest, if you are interested, to use Google Earth to see the layout of the roads into the complex. The exit is #80 (south)from I 40 and then the first road to the right. You must make a sharp 180 after going south on Highway 45 south bypass (turn right and then right sharply again). This is not to discourage you since I think this is an interesting stop for food and well worth seeing. We go there a lot but not with the camper.
- sweetnoniExplorerThere's a neat little museum hear there we really enjoyed.
- bartletttravellExplorerClosest campground is Pickwick Landing State Park. There is also Green Acres RV resort is Savannah. We have stayed at Pickwick Landing a long time ago and it was nice. you can got to the state park web site and make reservations.
