The Cedar Valley Engine Club’s Threshers Reunion in Charles City
Write up below from the past (2011)... Usually held around September 1st.
The Cedar Valley Engine Club’s 46th annual Threshers Reunion will be held Saturday through Monday at the club showgrounds, located seven miles west of Charles City on Highway 14.
The reunion is the state summer show for the Iowa Cornbelt Oliver Collectors. (this is where Oliver and White tractors were manufactured)
Although Hart-Parr and Oliver are the featured tractors and Fairbanks Morse is the featured gas engine maker for the reunion, all makes of antique tractors and engines are welcome.
The reunion will feature demonstrations of corn shelling and oat threshing.
A blacksmith shop will be in operation.
The Ulster No. 3 vintage schoolhouse and restored Roseville General store located on the grounds will be open, as well a vintage shingle mill using red cedar wood.
Visitors will be able to view the 1797 James Watt steam engine located on the grounds.
The reunion also will feature a large flea market and swap meet area.
A tractor/truck pull will take place Saturday morning. A kids pedal pull is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday. A plowing demonstration will take place Monday.
Daily activities include a parade of vintage power at 3 p.m. and drawing for door prizes at 4 p.m.
There also will be entertainment on stage all three days.
A food stand will be open.
Admission is $5 per person, which covers all three days. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
