I assumed a waterfront site in mid July was a great time/place to go. The fact that the water is inaccessible from the site and no you get no breeze off the water was a bummer, along with the insect infestation.
We now go to a lake for the 4th, where we can access the water to cool off and swim and we have good breezes off the water to keep cool in the evening. It wasn't so much the timing of the trip that made it bad... it was the collective little things.
