Portland Oregon Parks question

Hello Everyone. My wife and I are going to be moving to the Portland Oregon area(presently in Arizona) , because I recently got a job. Neither one of us are from the Portland area, so we decided to move with an RV for awhile until we can figure out where we want to buy.

Doing some research it seems that many places don't allow rentals for more than 90 days. Does anyone know places that might allow longer stays? Also, does anyone know of a place that would allow us to forward or mail to somewhere in Oregon or Washington? We will be selling our house in Arizona.

Thanks
Dustin and Signe

  • Whatever you do, I wouldn't recommend finding a spot in Vancouver. The distances may look short but the commute over the river is brutal. Portland has refused to add to their road infrastructure during a period of growth and the traffic is bad. Find a place that is as close to your job as possible. By the way, welcome to the forum and to the Northwest!

What area of the greater Metro Portland are you going to work. Getting from east Portland to the west side can easily take an hour.
Moving between two or three different parks every three months is not all that bad.
  • If you don't currently own an RV, then you would be very wise to rent housing close to your work. Owning an RV has a learning curve, and the very close quarters can strain even a good relationship.
