We will be visiting the end of June to see a show at the Gerding Theater at the Armory. Is there a campground in the reasonable vicinity, or will we have to park and hotel it?

On the east side of town you have Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, and PortlandFairview RV park. Both are pretty decent. There is one just west of town, but I have heard it is in the airports flight path so can be really loud. There are two in Vancouver that are decent. From either of the two parks on the east side of town it is a short drive to Max,our light rail system where for a dollar you can get to town as a senior citizen. Much easier than driving and the best way to get down town. Although I don't understand why anyone would go down town except maybe to the court house. There is nothing there.
Be sure to bring an umbrella as June is still rain season.
No reason to go downtown? What about a late evening coffee and a creme filled from Voodoo Donuts eaten in their amazing outdoor cafe? The patrons are a treasure trove of diversity and surprise. (Smile)
Actually, I will brave the crowds and the elements to visit Powell's Bookstore on Burnside. I have routed myself through Portland in order to arrive mid-day so I could spend several hours there. I always seem to spend more than intended but never regret it once I get to the campground with my new stash of old books. There is something about lazily browsing the stacks that can not be duplicated by ordering from Amazon, or E-bay.
