This was our campsite a few years ago when Fort Picken CG was still open. Hurricane Ivan damaged the road that leads to the campground extensively, so it's now closed indefinately.
The beach is within walking distance from the CG. Here is the boardwalk that leads to the beach.
Here is the end of the boardwalk before stepping down onto the beach. We really miss going there, but we've been to Topsail for the past few years which has helped make up for it.
