Problems with bears and cougars....

Has anyone had any run ins with cougars and/or bears when boondocking? Have you even seen any come near your RV or campsite?

  • It really depends on what part of the country or state you are in.

My sister's father in law was out hunting about 10 years ago in southern Oregon, and shot a cougar that was starving and about to attack him while he was loaing his gun and getting ready to go hunt deer. It fell within 50' of the truck, he was still getting ready, but lucky for him he had just loaded the rifle.

Every once in a while there is a cougar sighting near O'Neal Park in Orange County, but it has been a long time, and now there are tracts of homes adjacent to the park, probably where the fields of wild rabbits used to hang out at, now they are gone, so are the cougars.

Every once in a while, even on the outskirts of Los Angles, there is a bear sighting.

    Fred.
