I would say forget about RVing and buy a condo on Coronado, except that you'll be listening to the Navy and Marines. It is hard to find a really quite place anywhere in Southern California and still be walking distance to civilization.
Snowbirding doesn't have to mean living in a motorhome. Most snowbirds have warm country stick and brick homes, RVers are a snowbirding minority, and don't get the best locations, which are too valuable to rent out as large parking spaces.
