Raleigh NC Fairgrounds

We are thinking about going to the Raleigh RV show in September. Anyone have opinions or experience trying to stay at the fairgrounds for the show?

Of course there will be LOTS of folks with opinions on this forum, but I didn't ask 'can I tow this'. That might come after the show. ;)
  • Check this out. Lots of stuff going on out there that weekend but we still plan on going. With the new campsites open, I really do not think it will be a problem to get a site.
  • Stay at the horse show grounds across the street from the fairgrounds. Full service and a bunch of new sites on the upper level. Stay there all the time for horse shows. They are actually pretty nice. $25/night and no reservations needed.
  • It's the only place we stay when in Raleigh. Several times a year for the past 10 years. The horse complex is a big improvement.

Please keep the corner site closest to the exercise ring reserved for us. My wife likes to watch the horses, and until recently had the best wifi connection.

I walk the Saturday morning flee market.

Quality of RV shows are subjective so I will reserve judgement.
  • Thanks. There is a horse show that weekend. I want to go to the RV show to try to narrow down the list for the new rig, sounds easier than visiting a couple of Raleigh dealers. We might also go to the hamfest there in April.

    Hence your name? :B
  • Yes, hence our name. N4XYZ and KE4TCH.

Planning to attend Hamvention in Dayton next May. Hopefully in a new camper ;)

Shows you what I know. I just assumed it was all about pork shoulders. :S:B
  • We stayed at the fairgrounds when we brought our son on a college visit to NC State. It was inexpensive, no amenities(other than full hook-ups), and served our purpose for the visit. Plus, I don't think there are that many other campgrounds in the immediate surrounding area.
