South Dakota was one of our favorite trips. I've heard a lot of good things about the campgrounds mentioned so far. We stayed at the Palmer Gulch/Mount Rushmore KOA. http://www.palmergulch.com/ We camped in site 246 which was a FHU back-in site and had space on the sides and back of site. So many amenities at the place and it is centrally located to a lot of stuff.
Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore (evening lighting ceremony), Wall Drug and Corn Palace on the way are some suggestions to see. Enjoy your trip!
