If you decide on Snow to Sun, contact the resort directly - often the best rate can be negotiated that way. We have been there in March for $8 a night. By April, most of the Winter Texans will have left and park activities will be winding down.
The other poster made the location sound out in the country. It is in a bit of a rural/residential setting but only 2 miles to big grocery stores and anything else you could want. Best of both worlds in our opinion. The interstate that goes across the RGV is less than a mile away as are several restaurants.
