Recommendations for north ga, blue Ridge area

Looking for recommendations for a campground near Blue Ridge or Ellijay Ga. Anyone stayed at Mineral Springs campground? WW have looked on rvparkreview but was hoping for some other options than what we found. Thanks

  • Another proponent of GA State Parks. Unicoi could be our favorite place...

When we were last there, we visited the campground at Amacalola Falls. We've been to the actual falls before, so we skipped it because we just wanted to see the campground. As most folks know, the ascent to the campground is slow and steep (and perhaps nerve racking for some folks). And what we found in the campground was not enough, in our opinion, to justify staying there. Small sites, many located on a ledge, just not for us.

If you're looking for a Fall trip, you might be out of luck already at the state parks, as they book up fast.

Ditto on the Georgia State Parks.

A little ways away from Blue Ridge, but for what it's worth, I'm typing this sitting in Riverbend Campground in Hiawassee. Very nice. Hiawassee River runs right behind the site, did Brasstown Bald yesterday, off to Hayesville for church and sightseeing in a little bit.

Not to far from there is Vogel SP. A beautiful park. Reservations are recommended. Not far from Helen, GA is Unicoi SP which is another really state park. And Helen is always good for a visit and a good meal. Google Helen, GA and find all sorts of interesting sights. HTH.
