Have July 4th week off and we are thinking of heading north and not the beach that week. We haven't camped in West Virginia and Kentucky. Might be a good time to add them or one of them to the map. Would love to hear some recommendations. Prefer full hook up, but water/electric with dump station would be ok. Also let us know what there is to do there.

There are some great spots to camp at COE and Forest Service parks in KY, but you will need to book in advance since the holidays book soon after the reservation window of to 180 days before. Land Between the Lakes FS CG up by Paducah is an example.

Well if you do go to Lake Cumberland, the best COE park I've ever been to is right there below the dam called Wolf Creek Dam COE. Right on a trout river.

We like the Kentucky Horse Parkcampground in Lexington. Very close to many interesting things to see in central Kentucky. Here is a link to the reservation site. You can click on any of the camp sites on the map and see a picture of the site. Tim

I suggest visiting, Cass Steam Trains!. Located in eastern part of WV.

They have a fleet of very unique coal fired steam engines.
Shop tour, too.
Stayed minutes away at rv campground (I don't remember the name of the campground).

X2- The campground is called Kendall Recreation Area.

The actual name of the campground is Kendall Campground. Here is a link to their reservation site. There are also some pictures on the site. Very nice campground as are most of the COE campgrounds. As stated before, it is located just below Wolf Creek Dam on the Cumberland River. Beautiful scenery and great fishing.
