- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIColter Bay campground and Gros Ventre campground don't accept reservations. They each have 300 sites and rarely fill. We never had trouble getting a site at various times.
Colter Bay RV is next to Colter Bay campground. The RV park accepts reservations.
For those that like maps here's another good site and it gives detailed descriptions of RV driving each entrance of Yellowstone:
http://www.rvtechmag.com/travel/4_yellowstonebyrv.php - CiderExplorerIf you are planning on going from YS to the Jackson area, and are planning on staying a day or more, be sure to get your reservations now. We did that route last August and stayed at Colter Bay for 3 days. Everything down that way was booked solid. The closer you get to Jackson, the worse traffic gets. Last time I was there, before last year, you could get around pretty easily - not any more. If you have a toad, use it, unless you are pulling a TT or 5th wheel. Some nice locations around Jackson Lake, but they book up quickly, too. The drive down 191 is very pretty and scenic and there are numerous pullouts if you want to stop and absorb the beauty for a bit. Just about every kind of wildlife you'll find in North America is there.
- monkey44Nomad IIAlso, when you travel that road, the Wildlife Museum is just a couple miles north of Jackson. Stop in and see an amazing display of wildlife sculptures and paintings. One of the best Wildlife Museums we've ever seen.
Don't tow up the hill, parking is tight - so if you go, take a look first, or park at the bottom ... - dodge_guyExplorer IIYep 191. We did that last year. Stopped at Flagg ranch, did a horse back ride and and lunch. Then stayed at Colter Bay RV Park. Best 2 week trip we’ve done.

Here's a map of Yellowstone.... just head for the South Entrance and you'll then be in Grand Teton Nat'l Park. It's really not worth it to try to do the drive as a day trip. Instead, plan the spend some time in Grand Teton. It's worth it. Both parks are completely different in terrain, looks and things to do.

- Rangerman40ExplorerFrom the South Gate of Yellowstone to Colter Bay in Grand Teton it's about an hour drive. Another 45-1hr to Jackson Hole.
- KavoomExplorerThere is a resort that used to be called Flagg Ranch in between. Expensive but OK. And there are Grizzlies there. Ask us how we know. There is a dirt road that goes toward the tetons there. A couple miles back is a trail to some hot springs. Nice! The road went back to... We never took that road. Hmmm... We now live close... hmmm
- ScottGNomadThat's a wonderful trip . Haven't made it in 25 years but it was beautiful and interesting back in the day.
Have a great trip!!
