Rockport Texas rv parks

Can anyone suggest a rv park in this area that is for the bigger fifthwheels. We were to join friends down there at the end of Jan . They informed us yesterday that we would probably have a lot of trouble getting our 40' trailer into a lot of sites.
  • We are on our way there now and stay at Bahia Vista. However, they only have a few sites that would fit a large MH or Fifth wheel in the 40' range and they are probably reserved. Try the Sand Dollar as we have seen several large MH's there. Feel free to PM us if you have any other questions.
  • While I've stayed at Sand Dollar twice and had no issues with them, they only have around 20 sites that are concrete and the rest are sand. I'm afraid that they will be booked solid in January.
Bay View RV Resort will be able to handle your 40 foot rig and they should have space available in January but I wouldn't wait until then to call.
I'm blessed in that I stay in the newest one in Rockport and they can handle anything that you have but they are booked solid.
  • http://www.rockportrvparks.com/ < many options here and I would contact as soon as you can as the parks will fill fast with winter texans!
  • I called Ancient Oaks about 3 weeks ago for a reservation and they were full. They told me most of the parks were full with oil field workers. The shale oil runs across the lower part of Texas and they are working that now. Also there are construction workers building windmills in the area. Said they are building new RV parks like crazy. I found a spot in a park that was expanding. I suggest you start calling for reservations now.

Recently stayed at Ancient Oaks and will NOT return. VERY run down park.
  • If you're not looking for an extended stay park, I highly recommend Goose Island State Park. Nice big sites right on the gulf.
  • I'll 2nd Goose Island State Park. Love it there and have stayed the past 2 years before moving in to Rockport for the winter.
You should be able to get your 40 foot rig in to Rockport HWY 35 RV park. They will park you in their overnight sites right out against the road. They have plenty of empty sites because most people can't get along with the lady that runs the place. Or perhaps I should have said she doesn't get along with her clients.
She has problems with everybody, but just pay your rent and don't inter act with her and you should be fine.
  • There are not many sites at the SP which would handle a 40 footer. The ones right on the beach would, of course. The way the reservation system worked last year, you can reserve a site, but not a specific site. So there will be openings, generically speaking, but when you get there you will be hard pressed to fit a big rig into any of them.
  • Based on grocery shopping at HEB this afternoon, the town is pretty filled up already. There were 6-7 vehicles lined up at the gas pump area waiting to find a parking place. Many hill country fare generic product were out of stock on the shelves also.
