For the best experience of touring the Canyon, stay inside the park at Trailer Village. It is so convenient and is right near the Rim. The free shuttle picks you up at the campground entrance and you can ride all day long getting on and off whenever. NOTE: This is completely different than the above-mentioned Camper Village.

You didn't mention your RV size but if you don't need hookups, Mather or Desert View in the park are very nice.
