RV park, bikes to Williamsburg.

Looking for an RV park for Williamsburg that is close enough or has options for getting bikes to Williamsburg for sightseeing from the campground. Hope you can help.
  • Anvil Campground, Just ignore the trains. they are fast, but not too loud like a freight train.
  • We stayed at Anvil years ago and one thing I remember is the trains! If you get the wrong spot, you won't be sleeping. I don't remember if they were close enough to bike to Colonial Williamsburg. Last time we stayed at the KOA. You cannot bike to Colonial Williamsburg, but it was quieter.
  • Anvil Campground is a couple of miles from Colonial Williamsburg, road traffic might be a problem. Some of the sites back up to the train tracks, All are pretty close. If you don't have any trouble sleeping, it's not too bad a problem. Just rool over and go back to sleep. During the mornings and afternoon, the commuter trains are pretty often, but most pass quickly.
  • Chicahominy River Front Park has full hookups and is on the Virginia Capital Trail. You can ride in bike lanes into Colonial Williamsburg. You can ride the Trail to the Colonial Parkway. Many good options for bike riders. Park is approx 10 miles from CW. May be many miles for some riders. Not sure but I think the bus goes ( WATA ) to CRFP. All buses have bike racks. American Heritage is a nice RV park, but no bike lanes. Anvil is closet with good bike lanes, but is close to RR. Check the Williamsburg Area Bike riders website. That will give you info on all the bike lanes.
