Contrary to what others have said you can walk from the place above to Barefoot Landing, there is even a back gate going from the CG to Barefoot Landing. There are like 14 places to eat and scores of shops, House of Blues etc. in BL So no you do not NEED a car or taxi unless you want one. Google Barefoot Landing and check out the above link. There is even another Mall just down the street if you have bike or enjoy walking.
Now, if you want to go to the beach or a particular show you would need a taxi.
I live about 45 minutes away and MB / NMB are are a lot of all the same types of places, seen one you seen them all,not my cup of tea, but you don't have to visit them all.
