RV Park Indio/Palm Desert, Ca

We will be going to the Indio/Palm Desert area in late Jan 2016 with out 30 ft Fiver....what's the recommended places to stay that don't cost a fortune??? We are just retiring and don't belong to any travel clubs yet. I hear about Thousand Trails and others but a little early for us I think....
  • We have stayed at Indian Waters three times and will be there for 6 weeks this mid Dec thru first part of Feb. Have never had nor heard of any security issues.

A gate and a booth are two different things.

I have never been given a flyer or even heard of that either.

Well, last year they had a booth at the entrance, but there was never anyone in it. That may have been 2 years ago.

The office was handing out flyers stating to lock up/bring in bikes. Very prominent warning.

Just don't leave your bicycle out at night. Poor to no security.

They do have a security gate. Never had any theft problems with our things. Don't have a bike but suspect leaving a bike out anywhere may not be the best idea.

Wonder if 2oldman could give more info on his statement.

  • We stay at Indian waters in Indio. For just a week I think you are looking at about $50 a night in the area. I can recall when Indio was a small town and nothing else around back in the 60s. Not that way anymore. It is all built up from Palm Springs to Indio. They run the FMCA rally in Indio about that time (not sure of dates) so that won't make it any easier.
  • You will find the parks on the north side of the freeway will be cheaper. Take a look at some in the Desert Hot Springs area
  • Only going to stay for a week...but otherwise nope....Use to live in the area years ago....going to visit some of the places we use to go. I've been surfing some of the parks but nothing really stands out...Maybe we should try the Casino's!!
