Exactly! You learn more from specific comments than from the rating.
If the only complaint is about the restrooms, I don't care because I don't use them, anyway.
I look for words like privacy, scenic, well-managed, etc.
I guess the point I was trying to make was that if the restrooms, etc. are not cared for - even if I don't use them - that means that the park is not well-managed and taken care of.
That's a good point. I mostly stay in public campgrounds and they vary a lot in restroom facilities and maybe it's an indication of poor management. But I would never avoid a state or national park I like because of bad restroom ratings. It's nice that we have our own toilets and showers in our RVs. I leave the park facilities to the tenters. They need them.
Agree! There is a beautiful city park in Alabama, right on the Tennessee river, with horrid showers. But we don't use them, leave them for the tenters. I would not avoid a park because of bad ratings for facilities I don't use if it is otherwise desirable.
O.K. another clarification on my part...:)...we, too, use public parks as first choice because we know they will be a lot more scenic and natural so we don't critique outhouses/lack of showers, etc. for those kinds of parks like we do for private parks who have plumbing.
