There is a small KOA between Santa Cruz and Monterey called Moss Landing KOA. Very clean, right next to the ocean and beach, 3 great restaurants in walking distance and a Marina. Definitely one of our favorite campgrounds. Not the S.F. Bay area but a little jewel to know about if in the area. Lars - LwiddisExplorer IIDay trips to Santa Cruz and Monterey from San Franisco won't be much fun. I suggest staying in Monterey. Veterans' Park is great if you dry camp.

- Dave_and_SueExplorerMight not be central for you,but the KOA in Petaluma is top notch. We stay there two years ago and drove into SF. daily for three days..Went other directions other days.Traffic wasn't bad either 30 minutes or so in the morning and about a hour in the evening.
