I lived in NY for a number of years, and most of their parkways are not RV friendly and are marked as such. It might be that heading into the campground/state park you're good. I'm 13'2" with the 5th wheel, so I won't chance it...until after I drive with and confirm lol.
Great advice on the campgrounds - I'll check out both the KOA and the State Parks. I've really been wanting to try a state park - we have the generator, and so even if we had minimal hookups, we'd be fine (though I've never dry camped and I'm scared to death of it lol).
